Chipboard & Corrugated Sheets & Rolls Our product selection of chipboard and corrugated sheets and rolls continues to grow in sizes and varieties, as the new applications and uses for these materials increase in a wide range of industries.
In addition to its use in packaging, chipboard is finding new applications in the industrial environment. For example, chipboard sheets can be used to keep packs of paper from getting bent during storage or shipping. And chipboard can also be glued together to make corner protectors. In packaging, chipboard is used to make partitions for separating many products in one box and as dividers or pads for putting more than one level of partitions in a box.
Corrugated sheets or rolls continue to increase their range of application in numerous industry sectors. Corrugated sheets are used as covering for pallets in warehouse operations and as mounting for posters, paintings and pictures in the framing industry. In automotive and warehouse operations, corrugated sheets can be used to protect mechanics from cold floors in garages and to absorb any oil drips from the undersides of cars and forklifts.
Chipboard partitions also make counting and tracking the number of objects in a carton easy, because you can easily count the number of individual spaces you have by multiplying the number of spaces on two sides and then you can simply fill the spaces with your products. In order to make sure that your products are well protected when using chipboard partitions, leave an extra space on the outer edges of each partition, so the extra spaces can serve as air cells around your products for extra protection.
While situations very greatly, its sometimes a better idea to make a box out of individual sheets of corrugated sheets. The best way to make a box is by forming each of the six sides with numerous layers of corrugated of the right size and then taping them together. Its best to work from the ground up, first forming the bottom and then taping on the four surrounding sides. Once the product is secured inside the box, then you secure the top with tape.
Sometimes, roll corrugated can be wrapped around large, odd-sized products or machines. If you have questions in this area, please feel free to contact one of our experts.
A common mistake in using chipboard partitions is not allowing for the size of the material when choosing a partition to fit a particular size box. For example, if you want to use a partition with 35 cells in one direction, you need to multiply 35 times .028 the thickness of the chipboard and then add the resulting 1 inch to the size of the box. Another common mistake is using corrugated partitions where chipboard partitions will work; chipboard is less expensive, takes up less space, and therefore reduces overall costs while providing the same protection.

A common mistake with corrugated sheets involves their use as the backing for posters and artworks on paper in frames. If corrugated sheets are used for backing of the watercolor, print or sketch artworks on paper, the acidity of the corrugated sheet can damage the artwork. Therefore, if the artwork is of high quality and its valuable, corrugated sheets should not be used because of the possible damage.
When using individual sheets of corrugated to strengthen existing cartons or to make new cartons, its important to make sure that the corrugation runs vertically in the position the box is most likely to assume. That is because the corrugation is actually what gives the sheets and cartons their strength. With the corrugation in the vertical position, the carton or the sheets will do a better job in standing up to stress. To determine the direction of the corrugation from the outside of a carton, look for the dark lines running the direction of the corrugation.
Standard corrugated sheets come 48 inches by 40 inches, but sheets can be cut to almost any desired size. Standard sheets are made from 32 ECT single-wall material, but sheets can also be made from 275-lb., double-wall or even heavier material. Single-faced corrugated roll sizes come in widths of 9, 12, 24, 48, 60 and 72 inches, and lengths of 250 feet. Corrugated rolls are generally made from 2 layers of 18-lb. recycled liner board with 3/8-inch flutes on one side. Lawrence
